03:44 pm - My Japanese horror fascination
I have found that a number of Japanese directors have a distinct sense of what truly scares us. Not only was Ringu one of the most frightening films I've seen. I think it was a very cerebral film as well. I think true horror has to trigger the the more subconscious parts of our brain.

I know I'm ranting, but it just fascinates me. I found another cool Japanese movie called "The Eye". I dont even want to explain the movie. Its best to see the trailer yourselves. http://www.mongkolfilm.com/theeye/index_th.html

Hmmm if anyones interested in Japanese horror type films, my sister showed me this one directed by James Wan...his directorial debut is looking really good.

I suggest plenty of Pocky and fruitmilk when watching a film like this.

I'm currently in Japan.. and there's this cute looking movie about a Gothic Lolita girl who goes out into the world... look silly! I can't stomach horror too well... but I guess that's just me.

Yea, horror can be quite discomforting...

I tend to balance that genre with happier or somewhat adventurous films. Although many of the Japanese films or shows I watch are anime. Fruits Basket is one of my favs. Anyway, what you said intriques me, about a cute looking movie. If you or anyone else can suggest some fun Japanese films, I'd like to see them.
